Professional Experience:


Dr. Buis completed her post-doctoral training at the Providence Self Sufficiency Ministries in Georgetown, IN. While there, she provided individual, family, group therapies to justice involved, DCS-referred families.  Additionally, she provided and oversaw provision of DCS-referred, outpatient psychological assessments.


Dr. Buis worked under the supervision of Lauren E. Kaplan, Psy.D. since August of 2024. While training under Dr. Kaplan, Dr. Buis received post-doctoral training in a variety of forensic evaluations. She assisted Dr. Kaplan in criminal, family, and civil cases throughout all stages of the legal proceedings. She also continues her work as a clinical psychologist at Providence Self Sufficiency Ministries in Georgetown, IN conducting therapy, assessments, and supervising doctoral students.  Dr. Buis was licensed to practice psychology in the state of Kentucky October 2025.

Dr. Courtney N. Buis

Dr. Courtney  Buis received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) in 2024 from Spalding University with emphasis areas in Child, Adolescent, Family, and Forensic psychology.  As such, she has experience working with patients and evaluees across clinical and forensic settings.


Dr. Buis specializes in the assessment of adolescent and adult clients.  She has experience in administering an array of clinical psychological assessments as well as a variety of forensic measures. Dr. Buis has completed assessments for clients involved in juvenile, criminal, and family courts. She worked extensively providing assessments for Department of Children and Family Services, and has completed Risk of Sexual Offending Assessments in Canton, Ohio for Juvenile Sex Offenders during  her predoctoral internship year for juvenile courts in the counties of Stark and Tuscarawas.


Dr. Buis also enjoys providing therapeutic services to justice-involved individuals and their families. Although Dr. Buis works with individuals over the course of the lifespan, her passion is working with adolescents and younger adults, aged 10-24. 


Her clinical interests include the treatment of complex trauma, personality disorders,  juvenile sex offenders, to include sexually- reactive behavior. She has provided court-ordered and voluntary therapy services.
