Professional Experience:


Dr. Buis completed  post-doctoral training in 2025 at Providence Self Sufficiency Ministries in Georgetown, IN. While there, she provided individual, family, and group therapies to justice involved families with DCS cases and outpatient psychological evaluations for DCS-referred clients.


Dr. Buis has worked under supervision of Dr. Lauren E. Kaplan at Kaplan Forensic Psychological Services since August 2024. While training with Dr. Kaplan, Dr. Buis further received post-doctoral training in a variety of forensic evaluations. She has assisted Dr. Kaplan in criminal, family, and civil court cases throughout all stages of legal proceedings. She also continues work as a psychologist for Providence Self Sufficiency Ministries providing therapy, assessment services, and supervision of doctoral-level practicum students.

Dr. Courtney Buis

Dr. Courtney Buis received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) in 2024 from Spalding University with emphasis areas in Child, Adolescent, and Family and Forensic psychology.  She has experience working with clients across a variety of clinical and forensic mental health settings.


Dr. Buis specializes in the assessment of adolescent and adult clients.  She has experience in administering an array of clinical psychological assessments as well as a variety of forensic measures. Dr. Buis has experience completing assessments for clients involved in juvenile, criminal, and family courts. She has worked extensively providing assessments for the Department of Children and Family Services (DCS) and ahas experience completing Risk of Sexual Offending Assessments in Canton, OH for Juvenile Sex Offenders during her doctoral internship for juvenile courts in Stark and Tuscarawas county.


Dr. Buis also enjoys providing therapeutic services to justice involved individuals and their families. Although Dr. Buis has worked with patients throughout the lifespan, her passion includes therapeutic work with adolescents and younger adults, aged 10-24.  Her interests include treatment of complex trauma, personality disorders,  sexually reactive behaviors, in addition to  juvenile sex offender treatment. She has experience providing both voluntary and court ordered therapeutic services.
